Extreme sports are gaining rapid popularity in India, due to improved transport facilities and technological advancements. However, where many youngsters pack their bags and rush to the snow for extreme winter sports, they still lack professional knowledge about the sport.

The snow in Himalayas can be very unpredictable and that fact attracts many adrenaline junkies. To enjoy skiing in the Himalayas, you will have to be a good climber and a very good skier. However, if you are new, Manali is the better choice. Manali skiing facility is very well equipped. The helicopter drop skier to peaks as high as 6800ft. At this height the snow is very uniform and finely powdered, providing a perfect and safe platform for skiing. Another major part of skiing is your own physical fitness.

The sport requires remarkable physical effort and quick reflexes. So if you are obese and you want to ski, you may have to hit the gym first. People with breathing difficulties should avoid the sport due high altitudes. The guides in the sport are very well equipped with basic first aids. They are also in constant contact with helicopters that hold further medical requirements in case of an emergency. Ice Climbing If you are a trekker, looking for some extreme challenge, you should surely try ice climbing.

This winter version of mountaineering is very extreme and required high levels of guts. The Himalayas has been a dream for every Ice climber in the world. Hence, it is said to provide the best locations to try the sport. Himalayas offer climbing locations near Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, Zanskar in Jammu and Kashmir and eastern parts like Sikkim and Darjeeling. If you travel across the Indus valley and beyond the village of Stok, there is a famous range of mountains. Climbers around the world visit to practice their ice climbing skills.

Teams of climbers can be sighted throughout the year in these locations. The climbers should always have a complete set of survival kit consisting of compass, knives, flashlights, extra clothing, food, first aid and all the amenities that come in handy in extreme conditions. Check your tools well and recheck all the survival equipment and you are safe to head out in the snow. Note- Effective and insulated clothing is very important while enjoying snow sports. Wear three layers of clothing for effective protection from the snow.

Choose bright colors for outer layer jackets so that you can be spotted in snow, in case a rescue operation is required.
